One surprisingly simple step you can take to living your most fulfilled life.

What if you could just take one simple step that could change the way you live your life? This step involves a search.... What is it?

Here are some clues:

When you find it.... It will show you where you will find meaning and purpose It will bring you great joy and lasting satisfaction It will shape your dreams, and fill your dreams with passion It will give you the gift of determination It will take you to your greatest adventures However.... Finding it can also be risky and get you into a heap of trouble When it's good it is really good When it is bad it is really bad It needs to be listened to. It needs interpreting It can sustain us in tough times and in suffering I am 100% convinced that it is a great risk worth searching for because life without it is hardly a life worth living! So, what is it? It is your unique hearts desire! The thing is, God has given us each a heart that desires deeply. When we pay attention, we notice the deep longings that continuously call to us (ones we often ignore). He uses these desires to draw us closer to him and to the life we are meant to be living. So it goes without saying that how we handle our hearts desire will go a long way to shaping how our lives turn out. A great dilemma we find when facing our desires is this: when we were small, we discovered that the world was (and still is) not a fair place. We don't always get what we want. We have learnt that it's sometimes best to settle for what we are given. We learn to suck it up and accept our 'lot'. Yes, we were taught to strive and to achieve....but as the world asked us to. We have learnt to follow the crowd, to copy others so that we fit in. We have learnt to compete and to compare....and with time, this drew us further and further away from our own individual hearts desires. Another dilemma we face is that when we look into our hearts to discover our treasured desires we open ourselves up to the risk of getting hurt, of failure, of pain. What if I never achieve what I truly desire? What if it is out of reach? What if my desires are silly? What if I do get what I desire, to only have it snatched away again? we decide that in order to to protect our heart, we'd rather not risk this. It is by far better to play it safe, to live in the 'real world' relying on conforming to the 'norm'. We rely on things like our own strength, discipline, will power, being 'good'....and we neglect this precious gift and so the light we bring to our world loses it's brightness. So, yes there is a risk, but if you ignore your God given desires for long enough, you begin to lose heart, and that is not a place you want to find yourself! So I encourage you this week to take a risk, take some time, be still and listen to your hearts desire. You may not hear anything at first, but it is there! Keep searching. You have way more to gain than to lose (just read the list above again). It may just open up an amazing journey that you know you have been created for! Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life. Proverbs 4:23

If this has struck a cord with you, I'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to send me an email or to leave your comment below.
